Supporting schools, governing councils and state education through training, advice and advocacy
The object of the Network is to work towards enabling students with special needs to achieve their full potential in education, and to ensure that they are given every opportunity to do so in the least restrictive environment.
Membership consists of representatives from:
- Attention Disorders Association of South Australia (ADASA)
- Family Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FACSIA)
- Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of SA (SBHASA)
- Autism SA
Along with representatives from other public and private school groups.
SAASSO's representation ensures that Governing Councils are involved in policy decisions at the local level concerning funding etc., and for students with special education needs, particularly those with disabilities.
Meetings are generally held every second month, however there has not been a DECS representative available since June 2008, so the Network is currently on hold.
