As part of our service to education, SAASSO represents Governing Councils and the interests of public school parents numerous committees, boards, working groups etc.
Below are the numerous committees SAASSO's staff and volunteer State Council sit on; striving to enhance education in South Australia.

The Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative (AuSSI) now functions with an interagency Management Group and a Reference Group. The Reference Group involves discussions regarding all of the critical directions that AuSSI is taking.The Reference Group advises the Management Group on the implementation of AuSSI to schools, preschools and the community.
The Committee meets four times a year and endeavours to monitor the ongoing Child Protection Act implementation strategies.
The committee assists educators in schools and preschools, professional learning networks and districts as they plan for improved literacy learning outcomes for young children.
The group consists of a board of major SA education stakeholders including peak government and non-government care and education associations, unions and tertiary institutions.
This committee provides advice on the design and delivery of values education in Australia. It has a large varied number of representatives.
The International Education Advisory Board (IEA Board) was established by the International Education section of DECS to advise on and support the continued development and expansion of international education in DECS schools.
These are a series of forums covering aspects of the DECS Learning Wellbeing Framework, and incorporating the DECS Drug Strategy Reference Group.
This group meets to discuss school fees for all Government Schools. The reference group gives advice about fee guidelines before they are sent off for approval.
The National Centre Against Bullying (NCAB) works to share research across Australia to reduce the incidence of bullying our schools, with the aim of acting against bullying in schools and workplaces.
SAASSO manages the PIE Grants on behalf of the Minister for Education. The program has demonstrated over the years that support makes a significant contribution in assisting parents/caregivers at the local level to do great work in their preschool and school communities.
This program promotes healthy activity programs in schools, to develop active mindsets in South Australia's children.
Children from birth to 8 years of age are the main focus of the Early Years Learning Framework, and the Reference Group develops the framework from research, through consultation, trialing and validation and implementation.
The Primary Years Band Reference Group (PYBRG) exists to provide advice to SACSA Executive on SACSA Framework issues.
The group deals with issues relating to years 6-9. A major focus for 2009 will be moving forward with the SACSA Framework, and the impact of changes with the new SACE.
This group, along with the Early, Primary and Middle Years Reference Groups, focuses on developing the South Australian Curriculum Standards and Accountability Framework (SACSA).
This is a Ministerial Committee that reviews applications from State schools for construction of multi-purpose halls, gyms, etc, and recommends loans to the Minister for Education.
Shine SA is the lead sexual health agency in South Australia. Shine works in partnership with government, health, education and community agencies and communities to improve the sexual health and wellbeing of South Australians.
The object of the Network is to work towards enabling students with special needs to achieve their full potential in education, and to ensure that they are given every opportunity to do so in the least restrictive environment.
The Teachers Registration and Standards Act 2004 was the first legislated act by the Minister for Education, the Hon Jane Lomax-Smith. It’s object is to establish and maintain a teacher registration system and professional standards for teachers, to ensure that members are competent educators and fit and proper persons to have children in their care.
