Along with other organisations and concerned individuals, SAASSO has made a submission to the Statutory Authority Review Committee (SARC) for the Parliamentary inquiry into the Teachers Registration Board.
While the actual inquiry may be some time off, these submissions are an important first step and will help form a framework for SARC conduct the review.

The State Government is calling for public submissions to feed into the Parliamentary Inquiry into the Teachers Registration Board.
SAASSO urges all South Australian parents and Governing Councils to share their insights with the Inquiry Committee.
You have until July 31 to make a submission.
Submissions can be evidence, observations, experiences, or simply suggestions for improvement.
Once lodged with the Committee, submissions become a matter of public record, however, you can make a confidential submission if you wish.
Anyone wishing to make a submission is welcome to contact the Committee Secretary at Parliament House.
Additionally, as our state's peak parent body, SAASSO can provide advice and support to parents. All communication will be held in the strictest confidence.

Follow the story thus far ... How it came about
In May 2008, SAASSO called on the Legislative Council to launch an inquiry into the Teachers Registration Board.
In 2004, the Rann Government made changes to the Act; resulting in the Teachers Registration and Standards Act 2004.
The Act decrees that ‘The Teachers Registration Board must have the welfare and best interests of children as its primary consideration in the performances of its functions’.
As representatives of South Australia’s parents – and as parents ourselves – SAASSO is concerned about numerous aspects of the Board’s operations, which are cloaked in secrecy.
Specifically, SAASSO questioned five areas of the Teachers Registration Board’s operations:
1. The composition of the Teachers Registration Board
2. Vagaries in the Act
3. The Management and administration of the Teachers Registration Board
4. The focus the Teachers Registration Board
5. Accountability and transparency of the Teachers Registration Board’s operations
In October, 2008 the Legislative Council voted 14 to 8 to conduct a Parliamentary Inquiry into the operations of the Board.
