During the 2007 election, the Rudd Government announced a ‘Digital Revolution’, as part of the proposed ‘Education Revolution’.
The aim of this ‘Computers in Classrooms’ program is, by 2011 to deliver sufficient funding to enable schools to achieve a 1:1 computer to student ratio for all Year 9 - 12 students.
All rounds of the Digital Revolution program have now been announced:
Round 1
896 secondary schools across Australia will share $116 million in funding – equivalent to 116,820 new computers – at a cost of $1,000 per machine.
Round 2
This round will deliver $141 million for 141,600 new computers, to 1394 schools.
Round 2.1
This round will deliver 512 schools with funding for more than 34,700 computers.
