Funding Allocation Update

As part of the Rudd Government’s ‘Building the Education Revolution’, there are three established key elements:


• The ‘National School Pride’ program
• The ‘Primary Schools for the 21st Century’ program
• The ‘Science and Language Centres for the 21st Century’ program.


All rounds of the BER program have now been announced.

The estimated total of $14.7 billion in funding exceeded to a total of $16.2 billion.

National School Pride (NSP)

 

The $1.3 billion ‘National School Pride Program’, aims to refurbish and renew existing infrastructure, and build minor infrastructure in Australia’s schools.


  • In total, both rounds will see 9501 Australian schools receive $1.3 billion in funding. 
  • In South Australia, a total of 788 schools will receive $102.7 million for 1171 projects.

Primary Schools for the 21st Century (P21)

 

The $14.1 billion ‘Primary Schools for the 21st Century’ (P21) program gives primary schools across Australia the chance to receive funding to assist with major infrastructure.


  • In total, all three P21 rounds will deliver $14.1 billion for 10,701 projects in 7961 Australian primary schools.
  • In South Australia, 693 primary schools will receive $1.2 billion for 934 projects.

Science and Language Centres for 21st Century (SLC)

Science and Language Centres for 21st Century (SLC)

 

The $810 million Science and Language Centres for 21st Century Secondary Schools (SLC) program aims to build new (or refurbish existing) science laboratories and language learning centres in secondary schools.


  • A total of 537 science laboratories and language learning centres will be built or refurbished across the country.
  • In South Australia, nearly $78 million will be distributed to 61 schools.
